Shoes are often a girl’s best fashion friend, and this year a variety of both new and old styles are included in the top chic shoe trends.
Many of the designers that attend the various Fashion Week events recognize that women’s shoes are still one of the trendiest items of apparel when it comes to changing styles. What was chic last year may or may not be a big item for long as new and old styles keep cycling through the world of women’s fashion. While new and different is always a good thing, some styles are more enduring than others, and just seem to keep coming back. Based on the picks of some of the top designers at the New York Fashion Week events, here are some of the top chic shoe trends that you’re likely to see this year:
Stiletto Heels
Many agree that the classic, feminine, pointy toed, single sole, high heel stiletto is back in fashion once again and will probably be around for a while. Designers often recommend the tall heels with a pair of slim pants cropped just above the ankle.
Chunky shoes
Shoes with clunky, blocked heels are making a comeback as the style is reminiscent of the ‘90s club shoes and many younger women today have never worn the clunky look before. Wearers are reminded that chunky shoes can be flattering because they can make the legs look slimmer.
High Boots
A perennial favorite for fall and winter, thigh-high boots with a stacked heel never seem to go out of fashion. Larger heels translate to easier walking and a boot is always great in cold weather climates.
Bold Colors and Prints
Designers love bold colors on shoes because they can help tie an outfit together. Bold and bright print patterns can be used to the opposite effect and help create a clashed-on-purpose look too. Some designers suggest floral print shoes contrasted with pinstriped pants could be a chic favorite next year.
Ankle Straps
Shoes with creative ankle straps go in and out of style every few years. It seems they are in right now and they can be found on heels as well as flat shoes, however, ankle straps on heeled shoes may be preferable because straps on flats can make the legs appear shorter than they are.
Gladiator Sandals
Gladiator sandals usually affect people in just two ways; love or hate. But the style has been getting hotter over the last few seasons as designers create new, taller styles that cover the ankle and have an open toe and stylish cutouts. Expect to see gladiator sandals adorned with more buckles, buttons and clasps in the coming year.
