Chic Home Trends: 2012

by chic.com
?There is nothing more chic than a “green” home. New and eco-friendly homes are more popular than ever! Not in the market to build a new, green home? Use our tips and suggestions to make quick, easy, and affordable changes to make your house more “green.”  By using energy saving techniques, you will not only lower your monthly bills, but you will be doing your part to make our world a better place.

Start simple. By replacing your light bulbs (yes, it can be as easy as that) over to compact fluorescent lighting, you’ll be making a big difference. Now I know what you are thinking, no way are you putting fluorescent light bulbs in your home, but believe it or not, they have come a long way aesthetically.  You will be saving power and therefore money by using energy efficient lighting.

By using energy saving appliances in your kitchen, you can greatly reduce your use of water and energy.  Not only helping with your bills, but helping to use less energy which is better for everyone!

Get a programmable thermostat! Tired of wasting money on heating or air conditioning while your not home? By being able to program your system to run only when you want it to, you’ll save bundles!

Replace your sink and shower faucets with a low flow attachment. These are extremely inexpensive and can save you tons of money on your monthly water bill by conserving  thousands of gallons of water every year.

Every day we are using important natural resources and producing a great deal of waste. By being aware of our actions and what they have on the rest of the world, we can each do our part in making the world a better, greener place… and what’s more chic than that?
